1. Customer Consultation & Vehicle Inspection:
Identify Needs: Ask the customer about their driving habits (highway, off-road, city), weather conditions, and budget.
Inspect Old Tires: Check for uneven wear, which can indicate alignment, suspension, or inflation problems. This is a key pro move. Inform the customer if you see issues like cupping, feathering, or camber wear.
Check TPMS: Note if the vehicle has a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Explain that the sensor may need service or replacement.
2. Tire Selection (If you are selling them):
Based on the consultation, recommend the right type:
All-Season: For most cars and daily drivers.
Performance/Summer: For sports cars, better grip in warm weather.
All-Terrain (A/T): For trucks and SUVs for mixed on/off-road use.
Mud-Terrain (M/T): For serious off-road trucks.
Winter/Snow: Essential for cold, icy, and snowy conditions.
3. The Mounting & Balancing Procedure:
Safety First: Use jack stands to secure the vehicle. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
Remove the Wheel: Take the wheel (tire + rim) off the vehicle.
Dismount Old Tire: Use a tire changing machine to safely break the bead and remove the old tire without damaging the rim.
Inspect the Rim: Clean the rim, check for rust, dents, or damage. Check the valve stem; replace it if it's old or cracked.
Mount New Tire: Lubricate the new tire's bead and mount it onto the rim using the machine. A pro ensures the tire's rotation direction (if directional) is correct.
Inflate & Seat the Bead: Inflate the tire to the recommended PSI to "seat" the bead against the rim. Listen for the distinctive "pop" sounds.
Dynamic Balancing: This is crucial. Place the wheel on a wheel balancer. The machine spins the wheel and identifies heavy spots. You then apply adhesive lead or lead-free weights to the rim to counterbalance it. A properly balanced tire prevents vibration at high speeds.
TPMS Service: If the TPMS sensor is internal, it was handled during mounting. If it's a serviceable kit (valve, core, seal, nut), replace it. Re-learn the TPMS sensors to the vehicle if necessary.
4. Re-installation & Final Check:
Re-install the balanced wheel onto the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the vehicle manufacturer's specification with a torque wrenchโdo not just use an impact wrench.
Do a final pressure check and set all tires to the recommended PSI (found on the driver's door jamb sticker).
Part 2: Essential Professional Equipment
You cannot be a "pro" without the right tools.
Tire Changing Machine: A must for mounting/dismounting without damaging tires or rims. Get one that can handle large truck rims (e.g., 22.5").
Wheel Balancer: A dynamic balancer is non-negotiable for a smooth ride.
Air Compressor: High-capacity to run the tire machine and impact wrenches.
Impact Wrench & Sockets: For quickly removing lug nuts.
Torque Wrench: The most important tool for safety. Ensures lug nuts are not too tight or too loose.
Jack and Jack Stands: At least two heavy-duty jack stands.
Tire Pressure Gauge: A high-quality digital gauge.
TPMS Tool & Service Kits: To reset sensors and replace service parts.
Valve Stem Tool & Core Remover: Basic but essential.
Part 3: Marketing & Branding ("Lanskeing")
This is how you get customers.
1. Business Name & Branding:
Choose a name that sounds professional and trustworthy.
Examples: "Pro-Tire Mounting Services," "Precision Tire & Auto," "[Your City] Mobile Tire Installers."
Get a professional logo. It makes you look established.
